June 2014, 70th Anniversary D-day

This June it has been seventy years since the allied soldiers landed on the beaches in Normandy France where they opened the second front and started their advance which ended the second world war in Europe.

In June 2014 Normandy France will be the center of the festivities. Veterans from several countries will attend the ceremonies. Many statesmen will also attend the commemorations.

Here we will try to provide a short overview of the festivities:

Program

Sunday June 1 2014:
Picauville - Militaria collectors fair.
Salle Polyvalente

Utah beach - A 70m long fresco created by schoolchildren from different countries is reveiled on the beach.


Monday June 2 2014:
Utah beach - Inauguration of the Liberty Tree. The tree has 70 testimonies from people that experienced the D-day landings in 1944.


Tuesday June 3 2014:
Magneville - Wreath laying at the airborne and USAAF memorial.


Friday June 6 2014:
